One year on the road to eternity! AKA, Grand Canyon trip!

May 3rd marked our first anniversary of being married. Can't believe it's already been that long! But at the same time, I can hardly remember what it was like to be single, haha.
The Friday we stayed in a really nice hotel in Las Vegas (Trump Towers, if you must know). So far, that's the tallest hotel I've ever been in. We stayed on the 30th floor in a suite with a beautiful view of the city (and, unfortunately, a view the disgusting store across the street). The room was complete with kitchenette, giant mirror in the bathroom with a TV screen in it (holy awesome!), 2 elephant bathtub, and a giant shower and toilet with separate chambers for each. Really sweet as (as L & R would say)!
The next day we wanted to go to the temple in Vegas before heading towards Flagstaff. Being the navigator, I typed the temple into Spencer's phone, and got directions but couldn't find the building when we were supposed to have found our destination. We double checked the address and we had gone to the completely wrong side of town, so we went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch while we were in the neighborhood of one. Yum! Unfortunately we didn't buy and cheesecake because one piece was $7-$8. I wasn't going to pay that much for a piece of cheesecake, even though it was huge. We eventually found the temple and had a grand ol' time there.

We cruised the strip in Vegas for a little while after leaving the temple, and we got bored after a short time because it was way too crowded for us country bums, so we left, going through Henderson towards Arizona and our destination-- the Grand Canyon. On our way out of Nevada we stopped by Hoover Dam. Super cool :)

Instead of stopping in Flagstaff, which was the original plan, we stopped in Kingman, AZ, and found out that we were in one of the few remaining "gateways" to Route 66. It took us a long time to find a hotel because there was a car show that weekend. We decided that the next day, Sunday, would be a perfect opportunity to "get our kicks on Route 66." We were both really glad we did.
The sign said Hackberry, but I'm pretty sure we ran into Radiator Springs.

That night we found a spot to camp right before the entrance to the south rim of the Grand Canyon, since we didn't want to go into the park on a Sunday. The next day we spent running around to different spots at the Grand Canyon.

The rest of the trip ends with a beautiful trip up through Utah on Highway 89. Sorry, no pictures :(
